Enrollment periods control when registration opens for a term — for everyone, or early for selected groups. Use them to schedule your enrollment launch in advance, or to give staff families or returning students a head start before enrollment opens to the public.
You'll find them on the term's page in the Enrollment Periods section.
Add an enrollment period
- Go to Enrollment → Terms tab and open the term.
- In the Enrollment Periods section, click Add.
- Enter a Period name — an admin-facing label like "Teacher & Staff Early Access". Families never see it.
- Choose Who can enroll during this period?:
- Everyone — the public period, available to all. A term can only have one public period, and you need to add it before any group period.
- Saved groups — restrict early access to one or more saved groups (the Saved groups field). You save a group while building an audience for an email or text alert — see Choosing Email Recipients.
- Build an audience — describe who gets access right here. Click Build an audience, choose who to reach under Who do you want to reach? (say, Parents & guardians), narrow by Student levels, Age group, Terms, Classes, or Programs, and click Use this audience. The group appears in the Audience field named by its description — "Parents & guardians of students registered for Spring 2026" — and that's also how it shows in the periods table.
- Set Opens at — the date and time enrollment opens for this period, in your school's timezone.
- Save.
A typical early-access setup is two periods. Add the Everyone period first — the form won't save a group period until one exists — opening the following week. Then add "Returning Family Early Access" with an audience built from last term's families, opening on Monday.
How periods affect families
- No periods on the term — enrollment timing isn't gated at all. Families can enroll whenever the term (and the class or program) is Open.
- Periods exist — each family member is matched against the periods:
- If a period includes them (public, or a group they belong to), they can enroll starting at that period's Opens at time. Before then, they see "Enrollment opens for you on …" with the exact date and time.
- If no period includes them, they can't enroll at all — they see "Enrollment isn't currently open for you on this schedule."
Note: Periods gate when enrollment opens — they don't override the term's enrollment status or seats. A Closed term stays closed and a Full term stays full regardless of periods. There's no "closes at" — to end enrollment, set the term's enrollment status to Closed.
Note: Enrollment periods don't apply to admins. Enrolling a student from the Admin panel works even before a period opens — see Enrolling a Student.
Edit or remove a period
Use the edit and delete icons on the period's row. If you delete the public period while group periods remain, anyone not in those groups loses access to enroll — so keep a public period unless enrollment is meant to be invite-only.
