You can close the parent portal without taking down your public website. Disabling the portal closes family sign-in, self-enrollment, and student applications, while your website pages, class and program catalog, news, and events stay online. Close it while you're still setting things up, over the break between school years, or any time you'd rather families contact the office directly.
Disable the portal
- Open any page under Website & Portal in your admin panel.
- In the page header, next to View site, click Disable portal.
- Read the confirmation and click Disable portal.
The header button now reads Enable portal, so you can always tell at a glance that the portal is off.
What closes, and what stays online
While the portal is disabled:
- Closed: parent and student sign-in, everything inside the parent and student portals, enroll buttons and schedule checkout, student application forms, and registration. The Sign in menu in your website navigation is hidden, along with any apply or register menu links and any application or sign-in buttons on your website pages.
- Still online: your public website pages, the class and program catalog and detail pages (without their enroll buttons), news posts, events and event registration, public forms, and the parent guide.
A family who follows an old portal link sees a short "Unavailable" page asking them to contact your school. Anyone still signed in can sign out as usual.
Disabling the portal doesn't change any data — enrollments, invoices, and messages are all exactly where you left them, and auto-pay keeps running on its schedule.
Enable the portal again
Click Enable portal in the same spot — it turns back on immediately, no confirmation needed. Any menu links you had turned off individually stay off until you turn them back on.
Close part of the portal instead
To hide a single sidebar link — and close the pages and actions it opens — leave the portal on and turn off that link under Website & Portal → Design. See Portal Navigation.
